NEW - Alberta Innovates will continue accepting proposals under this program in 2017.

It is open to applications from companies and sole proprietors based in Alberta.

The next two deadlines for review of applications are:

  • March 8, 2017
  • June 7, 2017

About this program

The Alberta Bio Future, Equipment Utilization program was launched March 12, 2015. Read the launch Information Bulletin.

Equipment and supporting expertise for the mechanical conversion of biomass is available on a fee-for-service basis. Eligible companies and sole proprietors may qualify for up to $100,000 in funding from Alberta Innovates. Companies must also contribute cash to the project to be eligible.

Biomass Equipment - Alberta Agriculture and Forestry

The focus of this $2.5-million program is on the scale-up and pilot development of bioindustrial products and bioindustrial technologies.

Information on biomass characterization developed in the project will be made publicly available to advance the bioindustrial sector.

Projects must be completed within 12 months. They must include some or all of the following activities:

  • Scale-up, pilot, pre-commercial and commercial processing activities, biomass conversion and characterization.
  • Biomass characterization with direct application to the bioindustrial sector.
