Bringing new technologies and products to market is the focus of Alberta Innovates Bio Solutions' program 'Driving conversion of Alberta's biomass to advanced materials and chemicals.' This program aims to support industry, operating companies and other organizations in speeding the process of technology commercialization.
Projects that are designed to commercialize new products or technologies and are at the pilot and scale-up stage of development, utilize Alberta biomass feedstock and provide a competitive advantage to Alberta are eligible for a minimum grant of $1 million.
The strongest expressions of interest will include a significant level of leveraging and will own or have partnerships that access infrastructure and skilled experts to successfully commercialize new advanced material or chemical product.
The deadline for submissions of expression of interest closed on Friday, February 18, 2011. Thank you to all 33 applicants. Nine applicants were invited to submit a full proposal. The selection committee comprising internal and external reviewers assessed applications at each stage of the process. AI Bio announced the successful applicants on February 27, 2012.
